Next week is Clubs Days! Come to the Nest and sign up for an annual membership.

While you’re there, get to know us a little better. Today, we’re introducing you to our VP Internal, Alison.

—Faculty: Arts
—Major: Sociology
—Year: 3rd Year
—What is one thing you want to try doing within the next decade?
Going on overnight hiking trips and camp out to watch the sunrise.
—What weird food combination(s) do you enjoy eating?
Spreading jam on my toast then piling scrambled eggs on top and drizzling ketchup all over.
—What is one thing you do every day that you cannot let go of?
Flossing. I even go to the extent of putting a pack of floss in my purse, bag and backpack to prevent myself from not having any while I’m out.
—If you were given one thousand acres of land that you had to keep and couldn’t sell, what would you do with it?
Make my dream home for when I retire.
—What is one thing you are most passionate about?
I thoroughly enjoy working and interacting with children; being able to do this for several years has allowed me to develop a strong passion towards teaching.
—A goal I want to make this year for the UBC Pre-Education Club is…
to spread our passion of education to others who may be interested and connect with those who share the same passion!

A resource for University of British Columbia Undergraduates hoping to become a teacher/educator or are just passionate about education. If you're thinking of applying to become a teacher and have any concerns, are looking for experience, want to learn more about teaching as a career path, or you're passionate about education in the community, then we'd love to have you join our club! We host a variety of events throughout the year: from social events that give you the chance to network with fellow peers who are also thinking of becoming a teacher, to professional events where you can meet teacher candidates, experienced teachers, and representatives from relevant volunteer organizations. We also host collaborative events with other campus clubs and organizations, such as fundraisers for charity and teaching workshops.
